The occasion marks the birthday of Krishna's brother Balarama. Talso known as Baladeva, Balabhadra and Halayudha, is the elder brother of Krishna, according to the Purana texts of Hinduism. Within Vaishnavism and a number of Hindu traditions, Balarama is worshiped as an avatar of the supreme God Vishnu, also listed in the Bhagavata Purana.
There will be performances of kirtam, bhajans, storytelling and dancing, as well as a lacto vegetarian dinner.
