O 4th Floripa Chess Open starts on January 19, at the Onix salon at Lira Tênis Clube. There are 411 players from 15 countries and 25 Brazilian states, who will play ten matches over six days, vying for a prize of R$30. Among the outstanding presences of the current Brazilian champion Everaldo Matsuura; of the two most recent great Brazilian masters, the young Yago Santiago e Luis Paulo Supi; of the three-time continental champion and current senior World Champion, Julio Ernesto Granda, from Peru; and the current champion of the tournament, the Paraguayan Axel Bachman. The games take place in the morning and the visitation of the tournament is open, but cell phones must be silent.
