Free MIS/SC photography course

The Museum of Image and Sound of Santa Catarina (MIS/SC) offers the Photography in Cultural Collections course free of charge. Registration is open and can be made until October 20th using the form available at this link: https://forms.gle/QtJA1JzhHqk9y7ge6

The meetings will be virtual and will take place on Tuesdays (October 24th and 31st, 7th, 14th, November 21st and 28th, December 5th and 12th), from 8:30 am to 11 am. The workload is 20 class hours and a certificate will be provided to participants with up to two absences, the greater number of which will result in cancellation of the place.

The target audience of the course is employees of cultural institutions that work with collections, professionals and students of information sciences. With a theoretical/practical nature, the content will address a brief history of the collections, theoretical notions and basic techniques of photography, lighting, reproductions, documentation and organization of image collections, digitization, use of scanner, cataloging and dissemination. Participants will also learn to use metadata, free and open source software for organization, treatment and dissemination, with emphasis on the Tainacan platform.

The course will be taught by professor Sérgio Sakakibara and will have 60 vacancies available, with selection of candidates based on the criteria of order of registration and professional performance, schooling/training area. Those selected will be notified by email.
