
In the wake of the Oscar ceremony, which is scheduled for February 09th, the Camarim Cineclub displays, throughout the month, a marathon with classic films that won this grand prize in cinema. On the second Sunday of the month, at 17:30 pm, the film shown is Rashomon (1951), a masterpiece, by Japanese director Akira Kurosawa.
The film is considered one of the most brilliant, well-made and inventive films in the history of cinema. The narrative remains surprising, overwhelming, more than 60 years later.
Synopsis: During a severe storm, a woodcutter (Takashi Shimura), a priest (Minoru Chiaki) and a peasant (Kichijiro Ueda) seek refuge in the stone ruins of Rashomon's Gate. The film is set in XNUMXth century Japan.
