In the panorama of world cinema, Ingmar Bergman influenced more than he was influenced. His style is unmistakable, striking: dense dialogues, a camera that penetrates faces and reveals them, especially those of women. Actresses were his great stars, and for them he dedicated extremely sensitive and eloquent characters.
