O Florianopolis Audiovisual Mercosul, which is now in its 22nd edition, opens the inscriptions for the Festival's Competitive Shows. Feature and medium-length documentaries, children's themed films in all films, short films of all genres, up to 30 minutes long, and video clips of up to five minutes, can participate in the event. All submitted films compete in the five categories: Mercosur and Santa Catarina Short Film Show, DOC – FAM, Children's Show and Video Clip Show. To register, films do not need subtitles and productions completed after 2016 can participate. Originality is desirable, but it is not a criterion for disqualification, but a tiebreaker. Films selected for the Festival do not need to have an indicative rating. If the films do not have them, the FAM is responsible for submitting the works to the Brazilian Rating System, at no cost to the filmmakers.
