1st Prints & Museums Contest – registration until November 18

O Brazilian Institute of Museums perform the 1st Prints & Museums Contest, aimed at students and professionals linked to art, fashion and design. In addition to creating prints inspired by pieces from the collection and architectural details of seven Ibram museums – Museu da Abolição, Museu de Arte Sacra da Boa Morte, Museu Casa Histórica de Alcântara, Museu Castro Maya, Museu Imperial, Museu Lasar Segall and Museu Villa Lobos, the public notice includes the award in a special category intended to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Historical Museum, the 85th anniversary of the National Museum of Fine Arts and the 70th anniversary of the Victor Meirelles Museum. Registration is free and the deadline ends on November 18, 2021.

Two sets of prints will be awarded per museum, within two categories: collections and ephemeris. The first place will receive R$ 5 thousand, and the second R$ 2,5 thousand, making a total of 20 prizes, in the amount of R$ 75 thousand. Each candidate can receive up to two awards.

The registration will be done by sending a message to the e-mail contestestampas@museus.gov.br and, as an attachment to the e-mail, the design work and the documentation specified in the public notice, available on the website www.gov.br/museus.

The Victor Meirelles Museum celebrates its 70th anniversary on November 15, 2022. The images from the collection participating in the competition, all by the artist Victor Meirelles, are a Partial view of the city of Nossa Senhora do Desterro – current Florianópolis (oil on canvas, circa 1851); Costume Study (watercolor on paper, circa 1854/1856), and Sketch for “Batalha dos Guararapes” (oil on canvas, circa 1874/1878).
