The contest rewards the top three places in the Big prize and up to three winners, for each of the following categories: People and Nature (recreation, adventure or an experience in nature), Landscape (a view of a place, with or without people), Water (inside, outside or submerged in water ), Wildlife (in nature or in the backyard), Cities and Nature (connecting us with the nature where we live) and Public Choice (winner selected by the public through voting on the The Nature Conservancy). You awards for the authors of the best photos include professional cameras, travel bags, gift cards and TNC social media outreach. Photos are judged on their originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, artistic merit, and the subject's relevance to humans and nature. Judging is done by a panel organized by TNC, composed of contributors and guest judges. The exception is for the Audience Choice award, which is determined through online voting. Between June 01st and 14th, the public can vote for their favorite photos from a selection of up to 200 photos chosen by the jury. Winners are announced online on June 15, 2018.
