Synopsis of "The Day I Lost My Shadow"

At the start of the war in Syria, young pharmacist Sana tries to buy some bottled gas, but her quest quickly spirals out of control. This film was written in a country where tomorrow is an unimaginable thought. What is tomorrow if you are living under constant bombardment? The shadows will reappear and disappear throughout the film, heralded by a tearing sound of the score, the effect of which is reminiscent of the work of Lucrecia Martel, where sound is often a signifier of a mysterious universe in which reality is distorted and broken. . The film alternates between different levels: Reality, dreams, illusions, mirages and a hyper-realistic universe in which losing a shadow is a traumatizing experience that is reflected in a concept of magical realism.Winner of the Luigi De Laurentiis Award for Best Premiere in Venice .
