Film “AKasha” is the starting point for the online debate of the Africa Session in Online Cinema

 "akasha", the first feature film by Sudanese documentarian and activist Hajooj Kuka, will be discussed virtually at the Africa in Cinema session, next Friday (30), through the BADESC Cultural Foundation channel on YouTube.

A live is promoted by Cineclub Cultural Foundation BADESC, in partnership with the university extension project promoted by the Laboratory of Studies in African History (LEHAf/UFSC).

Starting at 19pm, the filmmaker and Cineclube curator, Vanessa Sandre, will lead the chat, which will have the participation of Dr. Raquel Schief, curator, director and researcher at the Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3, of the Prof. Dr. Silvio Marcus de Souza Correa, Professor and coordinator LEHAf/UFSC and Alex Brandao, filmmaker and curator of the Africa in Cinema session.

"AKasha" can be watched for free on the Cinema #EmCasaComSesc platform SESC Digital, in a partnership with Cine África, from the Mostra de Cinemas Africanos. The film will be available to watch online from 24/09 to 30/09. 

During the virtual event, the chat of the channel will be open for participation and questions.

About the movie

"akasha" is directed by Hajooj Kuka.
Co-production countries: Sudan, South Africa, Germany and Qatar.
Released in 2018, the comedy is approximately 78 minutes long.  

Synopsis: First feature film by Sudanese documentarian and activist Hajooj Kuka, consisting of a fictional narrative with contemporary historical and social references from his country. It is a comedy with a critical bias, which revolves around an unlikely love triangle between a young man, a young woman and an AK-47 rifle. The story takes place in 24 hours amid the civil war in Sudan.
