Fundação Cultural BADESC promotes a series of eight free virtual lectures until the month of December

Reflections on the impacts of images and sounds on today's society are the focus of the eight virtual lectures promoted in partnership by the Fundação Cultural BADESC and the Image and Sound Laboratory and the Graduate Program in History of the University of the State of Santa Catarina (UDESC) ), coordinated by Prof. Dr. Rogerio Rose.

The weekly events start on October 28 and continue until December 16, 2020. Always held on Wednesdays, at 19:30 pm, each meeting will have the participation of a guest with the objective of debating on a highlighted theme . In the opening edition, on October 28, the guest will be the screenwriter and doctoral student in Cultural Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Michel Carvalho. He will present the theme Brazilian Cinema - Coloniality and Resistance.    

About Michel Carvalho

Graduated, Master and Doctoral student in Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), he researches issues related to gender, race and sexuality in cinema. Specialist in Ethnographic Cinema (Fiocruz). He studied screenwriting with Patrick Vanetti, director of the European Conservatory of Audiovisual Writing, Lucas Paraízo and Zé Carvalho. He attended the Screenwriters Workshop and the Humor Writing Workshop at Rede Globo de Televisão.

He worked as screenwriter and researcher on more than 20 products; where the fiction series "Perrengue" (MTV), "Matches" (Warner Channel) and a series still secret for Netflix stand out; the documentary feature films "Torre das Donzelas" (awarded Best Film at the festivals in Brasília, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Uruguay and Portugal), "Mussum - um filme do cacildis" and the documentary series "Favela Gay - Periferias LGBTQI " (Brazil Channel). He is also the curator of the FRAPA Screenplay Contest and the Novas Histórias Laboratory.

He is currently preparing the release of "Prazer em Knowing", a documentary feature on LGBT sexuality, for which he is the author of the script, script, research and directing assistance, he is dedicated to writing his fictional feature "A Mais Forte", contemplated in a public notice of the Ministry of Culture, develops the screenplay for Apolo, a gay romantic comedy commissioned by Migdal Filmes, is part of the team of collaborators for one of the upcoming soap operas of Rede Globo and teaches at Roteiraria and AIC (Academia Internacional de Cinema).
