Online session Psychoanalysis goes to the cinema to debate the film Border

To sessão online Psychoanalysis goes to the cinema, a partnership of BADESC Cultural Foundation Film Club with the Brazilian School of Psychoanalysis - Southern Section, will debate on Friday, September 18th, about the Swedish/Danish film “Border” by director Ali Abbasi.

The virtual debate will be broadcast from 19 pm on the Foundation's Youtube channel (http://abre.ai/canalfundacaoculturalbadesc). And in this edition participate Gresiela Nunes da Rosa, psychoanalyst and professor of Psychology and Marcio Markendorf, professor of Cinema (UFSC), writer and Doctor in Literary Theory. The event will be mediated by the filmmaker and curator of the Fundação Cineclube, Vanessa Sandre.

The feature adapts the eponymous short story by Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist and tells the story of a customs official who has the ability to smell fear develops an unusual attraction to a strange traveler, while assisting a police investigation that calls into question the entire its existence.

“Border”, which won the award for best film in the Un Certain Regard section, at the Cannes Festival, uses a symbology inspired by Norse mythology to address urgent and contemporary issues, such as the feeling of being an outsider, gender relations in society, love, loneliness and cruelty.
