Introduced more than two centuries ago in Florianópolis by Azorean immigrants, the Festas do Divino Espírito Santo begin to come to life and color the streets of various neighborhoods in the city. This weekend, representatives from 13 communities gather in front of Casa da Memória for a procession through the streets of the Historic Center, with the intention of holding the Encontro das Bandeiras do Divino and cultural presentations in Largo da Catedral. The activity marks the opening of the Divine Spirit Cycle, with a program that includes the participation of delegations from several municipalities in the state and presentations by choirs and cultural groups.
This year most parties take place in June. The first ones occur in the communities of Lagoa da Conceição, Monte Verde, Ribeirão da Ilha, Prainha, Trindade, Estreito, Rio Tavares and Pântano do Sul (June). The calendar also includes the festivities of Campeche (July), Barra da Lagoa (August), Santo Antônio de Lisboa, Rio Vermelho and Canasvieiras (September).Start: 05/09/2014 12:00
