with dramaturgy of Nathalie Soler, theatrical show The New Wizarding Order arrives at the stage of Nau Catarineta Cultural Center for two presentations: on February 06th and 07th, at 21pm.
Synopsis of the play: The case of these people here, there is no doubt, is a case of bewitchment. They said that in the dark of the night the witches cast a spell, got drunk on their freshness, leeches that they are. They attacked the city with a terrible witchcraft, spread fear, chanted the curse. Some say, however, that he saw the money wizard dominating men with his sad face. The women said they had concrete evidence that this evil witch story is just a pretext to condemn them. Scenes, facts, notes, stories in which the witch, from antiquity or today, shows herself as a woman who fights against what oppresses her and keeps her away from a more just society. Follow some stories, on an island, on a hammock, on a rostrum, on a bonfire, and an invitation: to the new witchcraft order.
Directed by Viviana Schames, the show invites the viewer to reflect on the figure of the witch, presenting stories from Azorean popular culture and also other witchcraft references, such as the Holy Inquisition, which during the Middle Ages led thousands of women to the bonfires accused of witchcraft. Bringing the reflection to the present times, we seek to question: who are the witches of today?
