This Wednesday, the group Cantus Firmus, specialized in medieval and Renaissance music, presents the Christmas ConcertAt Sesc Music Network. The concert ranges from Gregorian chants to Renaissance polyphonic pieces, taking a journey through time from the 12th to the 16th centuries. Includes parts such as In te Domine, by Josquin de Prez (1450-1521), Dadme Albricias (anonymous, 16th century), Ave Virgo Virginum (anonymous, 13th century) and procession songs, such as the well-known Polorum Regina (anonymous, from the 14th century).

O Cantus Firmus was created in 2003, in Florianópolis, with the aim of filling the lack of Brazilian groups specialized in the early music repertoire and brings intriguing sound aspects to those who know little about the origins of Western music. It is made up of singers Marcelo Aguiar, Eduardo Seraphim, Jefferson Bittencourt, Fernando de Carli e Raquel Cerqueira. In addition to vocal work, the group performs with percussion instruments and the accompaniment of a pre-baroque lute (a copy of an original instrument from 1630).
