As part of the welcome to freshmen, the Orchestra promotes an Open Rehearsal, the activity being free and open to the entire community. The Orchestra also announces that it is calling instrumentalists for the violin, cello and double bass openings, open to the entire community, with a scholarship for UFSC undergraduate students. The candidate must have a medium level of instrument and own the instrument. Orchestra rehearsals take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 13:30 pm to 16 pm. Individual and suit rehearsals, according to the instrumentalists' agreement with the conductor.
