In the show “The Discovery of the Americas” Julius Adrião is Johan Padan. A smart and charismatic nobody who escapes the fire of the Inquisition by embarking, in Seville, on one of Christopher Columbus's caravels. In the New World, the hero survives shipwrecks, witnesses massacres, is imprisoned, enslaved and nearly devoured by cannibals. Over time, he learns the language of the natives, captivates them and gets away with performing “miracles” with some technique and a good dose of luck. Worshiped as the son of the sun and moon, he catechized and guided the natives in a battle for liberation against the invading Spaniards. Rating 14 years
