Show “Cascaes – Memories of the raw clay man”, by Cia. Theater aerial

Show presentations “Cascaes – Memories of the Raw Clay Man”, from Co. Theater Aerial, will be held on April 27 and 28, at 20 pm, at the Bacchus Cavea Theater – Nau Catarineta Cultural Center. The event will be free, with tickets being distributed one hour in advance.

The montage pays homage to Franklin Cascaes (1908-1983), one of the most important artist researchers in Santa Catarina. Cascaes dedicated his life to recording the customs and folklore of his time, which were the basis for illustrations, sculptures, recordings and texts permeated by discourses populated with metaphors.

The show “Cascaes - Memories of the raw clay man” reveals the mythological universe of the artist researcher, in which witches, boitatás and other fantastic beings live. In Cascaes' work there is also a portrait of the customs of his time.

On stage, illustrations, texts and sculptures enter the scene through the hands of the characters, poetic beings that come to life to present the great project of Cascaes. They are played by Egon Seidler, Luiza Lorenz and Margô Ferreira, responsible for taking viewers on a tour of the world of Frankolino, as he was affectionately called. “These poetic beings are eager to amplify Cascaes' voice and suspend it in the air”, says director Andrea Ojeda, from Periplo Companhia Teatral.

Cascaes has 925 two-dimensional works, 504 of which are sketches, 421 compositions, pen-and-ink and pencil drawings; and 2.700 pieces made of raw clay and calcined plaster. However, due to the fragility of his collection, we rarely find the opportunity to meet his work.

The short season has the support of the Nau Catarineta Cultural Center and was contemplated by the Aldir Blanc 2021 Edict - executed with resources from the Federal Government and the Aldir Blanc Cultural Emergency Law, through the Catarinense de Cultura Foundation.
