This is a humanistic work by writer Daisaku Ikeda. The story takes place in post-World War II Japan and tells us about love, friendship, strength and hope. It also speaks of the importance, and courage, of getting up only in moments of crisis. The cherry tree serves as a metaphor to emphasize the need to take care of children to build a peaceful future.
