Theatrical show “A Cor Púrpura, o Musical”, at the CIC Theater

Directed by Tadeu Aguiar and Brazilian version by Artur Xexéo for the text by American playwright Marsha Norman, “The Color Purple the Musical” premiered in September 2019, with seasons in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Salvador, and was a public and critical success, with 75 awards. Now, the production arrives in Florianópolis for presentations on April 15, 16 and 17 (Friday and Saturday at 20 pm and Sunday at 18 pm), at Ademir Rosa Theater, located in the Integrated Cultural Center (CIC).

The show takes place in the first half of the XNUMXth century, in the rural area of ​​the South of the United States, and narrates the trajectory and struggle of Celie (Leticia Soares) against the adversities imposed by life on a black woman. In adolescence, the character has two children from her supposed father (Jorge Maya), who offers her to a local farmer to raise his heirs, among them Harpo (Alan Rocha), wash, iron and work without pay. She is forcibly taken away from her younger sister Nettie (Mericia Cassiano) and goes to live with her husband Mister (Sergio Menezes). While Celie resigns herself to suffering, Sofia (Erika Afonso) and Shug (Flavia Santana) enter the scene, showing that there is a possibility of change, new perspectives, hope and even pleasure.

With an unprecedented musical version in Brazil, the musical brings to the scene 18 actors, 90 costumes, a rotating stage with a diameter of 6 meters and a curved staircase with a traveling around the scene.
