Theatrical show Dona Maria the Mad

! - This event/schedule has already happened - !

the theatrical show Dona Maria the Mad, by the author, actor and director from Santa Catarina, Antônio Cunha, is presented on March 29 and 30, at 20:30 pm, at the Theater of the Federal University of Santa Catarinaa (UFSC), next to the Igrejinha. The monologue returns to the stage, in a dramatized reading, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the play's premiere. Synopsis: The play portrays the arrival in Brazil of Queen Maria I of Portugal in 1808. After fleeing the invasion of Napoleonic troops, the old sovereign, then 74 years old, arrives in lands as far away as she finds strange. Reluctant to get off the boat, Dona Maria stays two days at the door of a world with which she had fought throughout her life and her reign, a relationship so close for what she received, saw and heard, and at the same time so distant for what imagined him in his moments of lucidity or madness. The presentation is part of the Open Scene Project, carried out by the Artistic Cultural Department (DAC)/SeCArte at Ufsc.
