Onqoto:
The perplexity and smallness of Man in the face of the vastness of the Universe is the central theme of the show. onqotô, ballet that, in 2005, marked the celebrations of 30 years of activity of Grupo Corpo. “Where am I?”, “Where am I going?”, “Who am I?”; or, in traditional Minas Gerais, “Onqotô?”, “Pronqovô”, “Qemqosô?”. It is from these questions that Rodrigo Pederneiras performs performances full of verticality and horizontality, chaos and order, brusqueness and softness, volume and scarcity, which are opposed under the soundtrack created by Caetano Veloso e Jose Miguel Wisnik, elaborated in a humorous tone to discuss this “paternity” of the Universe. The play has a Freusa Zechmeister and lighting of Paulo Pederneiras.
The sertanejo inspiration of the trail composed by Tom Joe e Jose Miguel Wisnik for Parabelo, in 1997, allowed the choreographer of the Rodrigo Perderneiras. Body Group, to give life to what he himself defines as “the most Brazilian and regional” of his creations. From chants of work and devotion, from the cadenced memory of the baião and from an exuberant and omnipresent tangle of rhythmic points and counterpoints, the performances emerge a choreographic writing that exudes waist game and foot marking.
