In the play, the actress Luiza Lorenz gives body and voice to the passionate figure of the islander poet, making the audience emotional and entering the heart of his poetic creation. Directed by Andrea Ojeda, the actress relives some of the author's most cherished themes: the walled-in, the artist, the excluded, the mad. Transforming the essence of the poet's life and work into the highest level of theatrical language, the actress uses her scenic resources, brilliantly fulfilling the challenge of giving voice and body to the poet, who reappears in his fullness in the exact 60 minutes of the show. .

Joao da Cruz e Souza he was black, a descendant of slaves and a social pariah in terms of his economic status. He was born in the city of Desterro, present-day Florianópolis, in 1861, and his life was marked by racial persecution and enormous aesthetic incomprehension. He died at age 36 of tuberculosis amid poverty.
