The opera is sung in Italian and was first performed in 1847 at the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, Italy. The duration is 3 hours. Synopsis: After having won an important battle, Commander Macbeth is informed of a prophecy according to which he will one day become King of Scotland. Influenced by his wife, he is willing to do anything - even to commit murder - so that the prophecy is fulfilled.
