O Theater Group O Dromedário Loquaz premiere of the solo show Florbela Espanca, bringing to the fore the specter of the Portuguese poet who suffered persecution in the first half of the XNUMXth century. Inspired by passages from Espanca's life and work, the play will be presented three times at the UBRO Theater: on the 13th, 19th and 20th of August, with sessions always at 20pm.
Synopsis: The show brings to the scene the specter of Florbela Espanca, who awakens from her death sleep to defend the honor and work of the Portuguese poet who, in the first half of the XNUMXth century, was persecuted and execrated by the Catholic Church and the Salazar dictatorship. . Florbela rediscovers and faces her past and her tormentors, leading the viewer to follow the sad and disturbing paths that marked her existence, witnessing the ordeal of persecution and defamation that took place even after her death. Who was Florbela Espanca?
Florbela d'Alma da Conceição Espanca, was a multifaceted Portuguese writer, having produced poetry, short stories, a diary and epistles; she translated several novels and collaborated throughout her life in various magazines and newspapers. Florbela Espanca died in Matosinhos, on her 36th birthday, on December 8, 1930. The cause of death was an overdose of barbiturates and the poet would have left a confidential letter with her last provisions, among them, the request to place in his coffin the remains of the plane piloted by his brother Apelles when he suffered the accident that took his life.

Founded in 1981, the Theater Group O Dromedário Loquaz is recognized as an Entity of Public Utility of the Municipality of Florianópolis. Over the decades, the group has produced more than 40 shows. Today, the team has approximately 20 members, including technicians, actors, musicians and singers.
