MA in ZEN-Buddhism means “empty”, or even “space between things”. The intervention Dilúvio MA – which bears this name because it was performed for the first time on the Dilúvio stream in Porto Alegre – brings the performers inside a hammock full of garbage, swinging for a few hours over spaces in the city that lack care and attention.
To compose the action, the artists sought reference in the Japanese Butoh dance, inhabiting the interior of the garbage installation with choreographic and imagery compositions, meditative practices and breathing exercises. The intervention calls attention to the responsibility with everything we discard and to the urgency in dealing with environmental and health issues that should be a priority for urban health.
