Synopsis:

Every January 19, a unique ritual is held in Macedonia. The most important parish priest of each city throws a cross into the river, and hundreds of men dive to reach it, under the promise that they will thus have happiness and prosperity during the year. In the small villa of Stip, the ceremony is interrupted by an unprecedented event. Petrunya, a 31-year-old single and unemployed woman, dives in to pick up the cross and becomes the winner. But the people of her town will not allow her to be recognized as such.
