Synopsis: Brazil, 1961. When Jânio Quadros resigns as president of Brazil, vice-president João Goulart becomes the natural successor to the position. However, sectors of society, led by the military, clamored for the impediment of Jango's inauguration, fearful of his leftist positions. Led by Leonel Brizola, the Legalidade movement is created to guarantee the vice president's inauguration, pitting much of Rio Grande do Sul against the core of the army.
