Desacato.info – The Other Information

O Contempt Portal was founded on August 25, 2007 as a virtual magazine. In defense of Popular Communications Sovereignty, Desacato.info identified itself with readers and opinion makers in search of Other Information, which is not usually published in monopoly media. Our motto: inform to educate, educate to form and form to transform.

Journalists, photographers, social communicators, cultural agents, artists and communication systems technicians produce class journalism on the network 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with their own exclusive productions and achievements every day. As one of the founders of Desacato says, the journalist Raul Fitipaldi, “every day we invent ways to overcome the limits imposed by the borders of the invaders, those that put us in historical quarantine, isolated and in dispute. Every day we are building the Solidarity Journalism Network.”

In 2022, the Portal completes 15 years of existence, being recognized by Agência Pública in its Independent Media Map, which listed initiatives in Brazil that “were born on the network, the result of collective projects and not linked to large media groups, politicians, organizations or companies".

The book “Alternative and independent journalistic arrangements in Brazil: organization, support and productive routines”, organized by Roseli Figaro and Cláudia Nonato, from the Center for Research in Communication and Work (ECA-USP), states: “the oldest of alternative journalistic arrangements to the large media corporations of Santa Catarina is the Desacato”. The chapter “At the service of the community, the cause or the capital: alternative journalistic arrangements in Santa Catarina” was written by Andressa Kikuti, Jacques Mick, Dairan Mathias Paul, Suelyn Cristina Carneiro Luz, Alessandra Natasha Costa Ramos, Jefferson Sousa.

Organized in self-management

A Southern Communication Cooperative (CCS) was informally founded on December 9, 2011 and was legalized on March 3, 2017. As a result of the evolution of the Desacato Portal, CCS's main objective is to give visibility to those who do not find space or support in the great media and create sources of employment for journalists and communication technicians. Currently we are 16 cooperative members.

Our daily communication resistance tool

On March 8, 2021, Portal Desacato took another step in its journey in defense of Popular Communications Sovereignty: it launched the JTT – Morning with Dignity. JTT is a multimedia production that combines radio, TV and Internet practices shown through the Youtube Channel of Portal Desacato and simultaneously on Facebook; with narration on Twitter and summaries on Instagram. In its second season, in 2022, from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 12 pm, JTT improves its editorial line aimed at the popular field, with news, interviews, reports, culture, specialized columnists, special videos, highlights of the national situation , international, Portal contents, the Poll of the Week and interaction with readers.

Friday's edition is especially dedicated to culture, from 10 am to 11 am, presented by Marco Vasques. Then, at 11 am, the “Workers’ Agenda” begins, presented by Rosangela Bion of Assisi e Jose Alvaro Cardoso. This journalism that welcomes and protects is produced by cooperative members and more than 20 national and international columnists and collaborators.

On April 25, 2022, the Jornal dos Trabalhadores e Trabalhadores, the JTT, arrived at 250 edition. were more than 1.200 interviews, 750 publicity pieces, but of 200 thousand views. Behind these numbers are journalists, social communicators, specialized columnists and A Outra Info, which guarantees a diverse, inclusive space that welcomes and converses with those excluded from traditional media. Without fear of taking a stand, without false impartiality, because JTT came to accompany the 15-year trajectory of Portal Desacato, and to be, like him, Semper Presente.

Only the people can finance freedom

Desacato and its truly independent journalism is funded and protected by its Readers, by trade unions and by social movements.

Individual and institutional support pays cooperative members and cooperative members, pays taxes, covers the maintenance of streaming, studio/headquarters, equipment and other administrative expenses.

In the last two years, due to the sanitary situation, it was not possible to carry out our Coffee Anticolonial which brings together members, columnists, collaborators and readers of the Portal. In addition to bringing together, Café Anticolonial was also a source of funds to maintain Desacato. To minimally overcome the financial losses caused by the pandemic, in 2021, the donation campaign was launched through the Pix: desacato.contribua.pix@gmail.com.

In March 2022, in search of crowdfunding, it was launched on the A continuous campaign is supported with monthly fundraising goals. Only by expanding the network of financial supporters will we be able to guarantee the quality of production we aim for for A Outra Info, create more jobs and decent conditions to face the unique discourse.
