The Marechal Moura de Naufragados Fort was built between 1909 and 1913, located just above the Naufragados Lighthouse, at the southern end of Santa Catarina Island.
Among the 12 fortifications that formed the island's old defensive system, it is the most recent and the only one that was not built in the XNUMXth century. Its function was to complement the defenses of the Araçatuba Fortress, guarding the entrance to Barra from a higher position.
Today, from this fort, only a few stretches of walls remain and the original armament of three 120 mm cannons, manufactured in 1893 and which are still in good condition.
