The exhibition hall of the Santa Catarina Public Library (BPSC) between September 12th and November 17th, 2023, the exhibition "Dom Pedro II in the newspapers and pasquins of his time" will be held. Entry is free and visits take place from Monday to Friday from 8am to 19pm.
In this exhibition, Emperor Dom Pedro II will be presented from another perspective, that of the newspapers and pasquins of his time. The pasquins, something more or less similar to the same ones that were published since the beginning of the Modern Age, became popular in Brazil only in the second half of the XNUMXth century, bringing, in the form of satire, recurring themes and reports of everyday life. Critical messages and caricatures were common and did not spare even Emperor Dom Pedro II, the newsroom's favorite.
