Praia do Forte is small and far from the hype of large resorts. Therefore, it is a great place for those who want to escape from beaches that attract many tourists and street vendors. There are oysters and shellfish farming in the region and the boats with Azorean characteristics are on the beach or anchored in the water, complementing the beautiful landscape. You can see fishermen foraging for oysters and casting fishing nets into the sea. On foot it is possible to reach the Fortress of São José da Ponta Grossa for a historic tour.
