A Santa Catarina's first Oktoberfest began in the community of President Becker Line, city of Itapiranga, far west of the state, in October 1979. After visiting the original Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, a young man joined his friends and started the tradition in the city.
Currently, the party takes place in two parts of the city, in Presidente Becker Line Community and city of Itapiranga, promoting parades, folkloric performances, dances, colonial coffee (Sunday), typical cuisine, dances and lots and lots of beer, with the famous beer contests in subway. The party also has the Youth Complex, a place with bathrooms and showers, controlled parking, camping selling snacks, soft drinks, canned beer and draft beer.
This year, the 39th Oktoberfest will be held on the 7th and october 22On There. President Becker, and in the days 9 the 15 October No. oktober complex, in the city.
In the city of Itapiranga, the party takes place at the Oktober Complex, located in Bairro Alto Jardim Bela Vista.
