Monte Verde Trail to Costa da Lagoa

Discovering Monte Verde.
Monte Verde

the trail of Monte Verde climbs the hill that gave the neighborhood its name and connects it to Costa da Lagoa. The path borders the stream that forms waterfalls and natural pools, which are not allowed for bathing, as determined by the Water and Sanitation Company. Even so, one of the best known places, just over 150 meters from the beginning of the path, is very popular in the summer. A natural pool where you can see locals risking their jumps off the rocks and trees, at a height of almost eight meters.

Moving on, the path crosses the stream and climbs the mountain, soon reaching the second waterfall - also very popular. It is on a secondary trail and should only be followed with a guide company or someone who knows the trail. After visiting the waterfalls, continue straight ahead until you reach the top of the hill. To do this, just follow the main trail. Almost at the highest point of the mountain, the visitor comes across a fork in the trail. The one on the right leads to Pedra do Urubu, from where you have a panoramic view of the North Bay. The one on the left connects to Caminho da Costa. It is a stretch of winding trail between the dense forest, but it does not represent greater risks.

When the descent of the mountain begins, the forest becomes denser. Walk a little further and the visitor comes across the Coastal Path of Lagoa. From there, just choose between another 30 minutes on foot, to the parish of Lagoa, or wait for the Cooperbarco boat, which connects all the villages on the coast and with the parish of Lagoa, where there is a bus stop and cars arrive. .
