São Sebastião Church

The São Sebastião Church was built at a time when the city was ravaged by a plague. As São Sebastião is the protector saint of epidemics, the people started to have a great devotion to him. Furthermore, the Church marks the end of slave labor and the beginning of immigrant work, which gave the work Neo-Romanesque and Neo-Gothic characteristics. In front of the Church is Largo São Sebastião, where on Saturday mornings there is a fair where the settlers sell their products. Address: Largo São Sebastião da Praia de Fora
