Surrounded by historic buildings, the square was once known as Largo Municipal. It currently has a fountain and a large playground. The square also houses a plaque alluding to the commemoration of the city's 25th anniversary, a reproduction of President Getúlio Vargas' letter-testament, the first monument made in the state in honor of Anita Garibaldi, a statue of former mayor Bulcão Viana and a bust of businessman Carl Hoepcke.
