O Barra Sul Lighthouse, Also known as Shipwrecked Lighthouse, was built in the second half of the 30th century to try to minimize the number of boats that sank, ran aground or got lost there. This lighthouse, which stands on top of the rocky cape, is composed of a white, circular masonry tower, built on a 42,6-meter massif, which raises the whole to 500 meters above the sea. To get to the lighthouse it is necessary to walk along a steep trail, which extends for about XNUMX meters, starting from the right corner of the beach, over the cliffs. On the way, there are two other trails. The first, right at the beginning, leads to the ruins of the Forte Marechal de Moura. The second one, further on, leads to the cannons, which were placed there for training soldiers during the Second World War. At the Lighthouse there is a suspended deck from where you can admire the magnificent view of Praia Naufragados, on the island of Araçatuba, where the Fortress of Our Lady of Conception of Araçatuba, Ilha and Ponta do Papagaio and Praia do Sonho and Pinheira, in the municipality of Palhoça.
