It was in the region where the XV de Novembro Square that, in 1662, the bandeirante Francisco Dias Velho founded the Village of Nossa Senhora do Desterro, today Florianopolis. The square was tree-lined during the XNUMXth century and to this day retains its specimens of Indian ficus, imperial palms, cloves and the famous Centenary fig tree. The paving reproduces a drawing by the artist Hassis.
