Eli Heil's Egg World Museum

Founded in 1987, the Museum houses the numerous private collection of Eli Heil, a plastic artist from Santa Catarina, internationally renowned for his “unusual” works, produced from painting, sculpture, ceramics, tapestry and drawing. The place houses hundreds of works by Eli Heil, coming from different creative processes and techniques, developed throughout his artistic career. In the collection, there are works made with some unusual materials, such as shoe heels, paint tubes and PVC pipes. In addition, the Museum has an archive of books, catalogues, prints and documents associated with the artist. Currently, the Museum has three exhibition spaces: the Sculpture Room, the Exhibition Room and the annex that houses one of her main works, the Nativity scene. In the Museum's garden, some sculptures are on display, with emphasis on the group of works called “O Paraíso”. The set also had totems called Adam and Eve, polychrome sculptures over three meters high, which were located at the entrance to the Museum. However, to the artist's sadness, they were torn down in 1990 during the duplication of the SC-401 highway. And as a way of perpetuating the totems, Eli Heil buried his creations in a “cemetery”, which can be seen in the Museum's garden.
