The Igreja Matriz de Florianópolis, better known as the Metropolitan Cathedral, is built in the same place where Dias Velho, founder of the city, built a chapel for Nossa Senhora do Desterro. The Church has a large collection of sacred art.
In front of you is the Cathedral Square, where there is a craft fair on Fridays. In Largo there is also a Tourist Information Office.
