The story tells that Figueira Centenária de Florianópolis was born in 1871 in the garden of Igreja Matriz, current Cathedral, and that it was transplanted 20 years later to the place where it is in Praça XV.
According to local folklore, whoever surrounds it several times will attract wealth, luck and marriage.
