Major Lara Ribas Weapons Museum

The Major Lara Ribas Arms Museum was installed in 1930, under the Sant' Ana Fort, located under the Hercílio Luz Bridge. The Fort, which was built in 1761, had the function of protecting the island from ships that entered the North Bay of the island. It was listed in 1938 by the National Historical Heritage and has housed the Museum since 1975. The Museum's name is a tribute to Military Police Colonel Antônio de Lara Ribas, who selected the weapons seized in the State of Santa Catarina that were of historical or collection and brought to the Museum. Collection Duly cataloged and ordered, the pieces are on permanent display, and exposed through a chronological circuit of evolution of the triggering mechanism. The museum houses pistols, rifles, machine guns, anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns, in addition to soldiers' uniforms, insignia and old photos of the city. This collection gradually increased, and today it constitutes the main attraction of the Museum being distributed within an exhibition area of ​​122 m².
