In the midst of the daily rush, at happy hour after work, by the sea, after a night out... the pastries are perfect for any situation! It is even tastier because of the spices from Florianópolis. Pastel de Berbigão is the official record of the city's flavors. There are also shrimp and squid pastries that are popular on the island menu. In addition to the bars and restaurants that serve pastries, it is common to find pastries. They are located in most regions of the island, mainly Centro, Lagoa da Conceição, Ingleses and Canasvieiras. Curiosity: Pastel is a typically Brazilian snack, but it is a derivative of the Chinese spring roll. Who adapted and popularized the Brazilian pastel, however, were the Japanese during the Second World War. It was an attempt to pose as Chinese immigrants, as Japan was an ally of Nazi Germany. Harmonization: There's no way, the preferred option to accompany the pastel is the sugarcane juice. And that makes a lot of sense, especially for savory pastries. This is because the sweetness of the sugarcane juice contrasts with the salt of the pastel. Generally, drinks with that molasses feel go well with meats, so a meat and olives pie with cane juice is a perfect match. The cheese pastries pair well with classic Pilsen beers.
