The Museum of Archeology and Ethnology at Ufsc (MArquE) opens its doors to the community, inviting everyone to know a little more about their own past and reflect on the island's very diverse cultural identity. In addition to the important collection of Pre-Colonial and Historical Archeology and Indigenous Ethnology, the Museum is the guardian of the Profª Elizabeth Pavan Cascaes collection, preserving the significant collection of the artist Franklin Cascaes, which consists of more than 2.700 pieces. The collection houses several drawings, manuscripts and sculptures that portray the daily life, religiosity, legends, folk myths and traditions of the first settlers of Santa Catarina Island. See all the details in our special about the Museum of Ethnology and Archeology.
