Map Location Praia Brava

Clear waters, beautiful people on the sand, music, events and an active community to take care of the region's issues. This is the universe that surrounds the Brava Beach, which stands out in Florianópolis' summer due to the good infrastructure of the beach and shore, in addition, of course, to the privileged view.

In the summer months, many young people looking for fun take to the sands of the beach, as this is where events with DJs and bands are held. There is always music and places that serve drinks and snacks.

Brava Beach

The sea is a fun place for surfers, the waves create a perfect environment for the practice of this sport.

Families who wish to take children to Brava should be very careful, as the waves are strong and the currents can lead bathers to drag (not being able to return to the beach). The rates of accidents at sea, however, are low, as there is a lifeguard station that provides assistance on the most dangerous days.

The community is small and composed mostly of condominiums of buildings that face the sea or close to it (the most distant are approximately 400 meters from the beach).

The exits to the beach have public parking. The car is the main means of transport in the Brava region, as the profile of the residents is of high purchasing power, but there are also bus lines that go to the region.

Natural Features of Praia Brava

On one side, Ponta da Feiticeira separates Brava from Praia dos Ingleses. On the other hand, Ponta da Bota guarantees the border between Brava and Lagoinha beaches. The beach faces northwest-southeast and is surrounded by cliffs on its sides. It is an open beach, with an oceanic characteristic.

It has strong and wild waves, hence the name of the beach, with intense splash. The waters are clear, with high salinity and fishiness.

The sand is very fine, yellow and soft. It is about 1,5 kilometers long and has a strip of sand that varies between 25 and 80 meters. The sea floor has a gentle slope, but it can present some deep unevenness.

The beach is exposed to the action of ocean waves, mainly coming from the east. In the winter months, the swells of the southern quadrant predominate. These characteristics make the beach a predisposed place for the practice of surf.

History of Praia Brava

The geographic characteristics of Praia Brava, such as the steep and high hills, clayey and stone massifs, in addition to the wild and fierce waters, resulted in difficult access for Indians or fishermen. Because of this, there were no inhabitants in this region to the point of turning it into a village.

Until the 1980s, only a few fishermen owned houses on scarce land near the beach. This reality changed when civil construction entrepreneur Nilton Ramos, owner of the company CEISA, decided to invest in Praia Brava. He bought the land that belonged to the fishermen and, together with the architect André Schmidt, designed a differentiated enterprise, which would become the first area on the island of Santa Catarina to have a conscious urbanization plan.

From there, Praia Brava was developed to become an elite neighborhood of Florianópolis, respecting green areas, with shores close to the beach equipped with parking and privileged infrastructure.

The construction of the first condominium of the subdivision was completed in 1990, and it is from this decade that the urbanization and housing of Praia Brava take a big leap.
