Feijoada

It's only when the weather gets colder that the traditional feijoadas start to appear in Florianópolis. The usual day is Saturday, during lunch. Some restaurants prefer to just serve a hearty and delicious feijoada, while others already take advantage of the Brazilian culture to invite samba bands and make everything a great party. At the end of winter, the Saturday feijoadas begin to disappear in Florianópolis. Typically, feijoada accompaniments were always white rice, farofa, cabbage and orange. Currently, in the traditional Saturday feijoadas, a veritable abundance of side dishes are available. There are several types of beans, various meats of pork and beef, sausages, many vegetables and, to finish, desserts. It's for those with a keen appetite! Curiosity: The most widespread story is that feijoada would have been invented by slaves, who fed on the parts of pigs discarded by the masters. But feijoada as it is today is a dish with European influences, similar to French cassoulet, which probably originated in Rio de Janeiro. Harmonization: Brazilian drinks are in great demand to accompany feijoada. And they often do well. The caipirinha, for example, which has a high degree of acidity manages to dissolve the greasiness of the fat, in addition to giving a refreshing sensation. That cachacinha at the end serves as a digestive. There are also those who approve wines as an accompaniment to feijoadas. In this case, the curlers harmonize better.
