The Cachoeira do Bom Jesus neighborhood is located north from Santa Catarina Island, 31 km from the Centro Florianópolis, between the neighborhoods of Canasvieiras, mice, Sao Joao do Rio Vermelho e English from Rio Vermelho.

History

The name of the neighborhood refers to a small waterfall in a watercourse, which rises on the slope of the main hill in the region and flows into the beach. As the community in the region is consecrated to Senhor do Bom Jesus, the locality came to be called Cachoeira do Bom Jesus. However, the beach only received this name in the 1960s.

The first records of settlement in the region begin in 1754, with the foundation of Vila de São Francisco de Paula das Canas Vieiras by Azorean and Madeiran immigrants.
