The Cachoeira do Bom Jesus neighborhood is located north from Santa Catarina Island, 31 km from the downtown Florianópolis, between the neighborhoods of Canasvieiras, mice, Sao Joao do Rio Vermelho e English from Rio Vermelho.
Its area ranges from the beaches of Bom Jesus waterfall, Ponta das Canas and Lagoinha to Vargem Grande and Vargem do Bom Jesus.
Despite occupying a large area of land in the region, the neighborhood is concentrated along the two main roads, Avenida Luiz Boiteux Piazza and Rua Leonel Pereira.

History
The name of the neighborhood refers to a small waterfall in a watercourse, which rises on the slope of the main hill in the region and flows into the beach. As the community in the region is consecrated to Senhor do Bom Jesus, the locality came to be called Cachoeira do Bom Jesus. However, the beach only received this name in the 1960s.
The history of the Cachoeira do Bom Jesus neighborhood is directly related to the development of the neighboring neighborhood, Canasvieiras. The first records of settlement in the region begin in 1754, with the foundation of Vila de São Francisco de Paula das Canas Vieiras by Azorean and Madeiran immigrants. Initially, people lived in the livestock and subsistence agriculture region, focusing on the production of sugarcane, cassava, corn, beans and coffee. Only later to fishery came to establish itself as one of the economic pillars.
