10th Desterro Award – Florianópolis Dance Festival – Awarded

Meet the awardees of the Desterro Award – 10th Florianópolis Dance Festival In 2019, the Desterro Award – Florianópolis Dance Festival celebrated a decade with news and records. In addition to occupying two of the capital's main theaters and taking free performances to Beiramar Shopping, it brought together more than 1600 dancers from all over Brazil in shows that represent the best dance production in the country. There were six days of exhibitions, workshops and great meetings. CBS Dance Factory, from São José dos Campos (SP), received the Desterro Award – best group award at the 10th Florianópolis Dance Festival. Skiante Cia de Dança was the most prominent group from Santa Catarina to win the Só Dança Award. The top three places in the Solo Female, Solo Male, Duo and Ensemble sub-genres, in the Junior and Adult categories, were announced at the end of each night. On the last day of the event, the 1st, the groups and dancers who shared the total prize money in the unprecedented amount of R$ 26 thousand were known. The best works of neoclassical ballet, classical ballet repertoire, popular dances, urban dances, jazz and tap dance received R$1. The best choreographic conception, the best scenic performance and the best innovation and experimentation in contemporary dance received a prize worth R$500 each. The winners of the adult and junior categories of the Grand Prix (ballet solos) were also awarded R$ 1. The prize for the best dancer and the best dancer of the Festival doubled: it was R$ 1 thousand. The same value received the best choreographer.
