Fecomércio SC Tourism Board discusses strategies for the gaming and casino sector

Strategies for tourism are being discussed in the National Congress, aiming at the legalization of games and casinos in Brazil and the Events Sector Recovery Emergency Program (PERSE) raised the meeting of the Business Chamber of Tourism of Fecomércio SC, in Florianópolis. The face-to-face meeting brought together representatives of the tourist trade from all over the state at the 33rd edition of Encatho & Exprotel, in the South Center.

“The General Tourism Fund (Fungetur), Perse and the Legal Framework for the Games are the biggest game changers in the sector in recent history. A Legislative initiative, Perse is the 'Pronampe' of the events sector, one of the greatest political achievements in Congress, which helped to mitigate the economic impacts of the pandemic.” Emphasized the deputy Rodrigo Coelho, the first person from Santa Catarina to assume the presidency of the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Deputies

The program authorizes companies to negotiate their tax debts with discounts, allowing the payment of the outstanding balance within up to 145 months.

As mentioned by the tax consultant at Fecomércio SC, Lucas Rossetto: “Perse helped to boost the tax-exempt sector, such as PIS/Pasep, Cofins, Social Contribution on Net Income (CSLL) and Corporate Income Tax. (IRPJ), for 60 months.”

Thus, the deadline for joining the program ends on October 31. Therefore, interested companies should contact the Federation through the electronic address: (fecomercio@fecomercio-sc.com.br) for guidance and further information.

According to the deputy, Bill 442/1991, which regulates gambling in Brazil, should progress after the end of the country's elections.

As Magnho José, president of the Brazilian Institute Legal Gaming (IJL): “Casino retains tourists and it is defining whether or not the public goes to that destination, because there is a universe behind it, with shows, entertainment, restaurants, etc. About 200 Brazilians travel every year to play in other countries, generating employment and income in these places. Legalization in Brazil could generate 658 direct jobs and 619 indirect jobs in the game’s production chain.”
